While trained as a generalist, Mia has advanced skills and training in the areas of:
- trauma (abuse, vehicle accidents, etc.)
- grief and loss
- ADHD
- finding meaning
- anxiety
- depression
- peer relationships
- self-esteem
- addiction
- spiritual and religious crisis
She is proficient at using a wide variety of therapeutic modalities which include trauma and attachment therapy, existential analysis/meaning therapy, parts work, expressive therapies, mindfulness, and somatic therapy
Mia is a certified Lifespan Integration therapist and has her OEI level 1 certificate. She has taken workshops in play therapy, sand tray, emotionally focused therapy (EFT), systemic oppression, art therapy, and complex trauma.
Mia has a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Mia is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) accredited through the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). She also has a BC Teaching License. Mia is dedicated to keeping up to date in the ever changing field of counselling and is currently a part of a 5 year program to become an Existential Analysis counsellor
